Movie Night - Hell on Wheels


What : Movie ('Hell on wheels') and Dinner
When : Thursday 05th April 2012, 7 pm - 9.30 pm ( the actual movie is 2 hours long)
Where :The Bike Affair store , Kondapur.
Costs : No charges for movie. Dinner will be at actuals, and is expected to cost around Rs150/person.



The movie takes us through the 2003 Tour de France, through the eyes of Telecom team. For anybody who hasn't heard of Tour De France, it is one of the toughest and most prestigious cycling event in the world. 2003 was the year when Lance Armstrong won his 5th consecutive tour de france. The movie also showcases what TDF means for the locals, and how there life revolves around it . Not to mention some of the stunning footage of french countryside.

Skill camp - Basics of mountain biking

Learn the skills of mountain biking from Britain's ex cross country racer and expert MTB rider Richard McDowell.

What : Mountain biking skill camp
When : Saturday 25th Feb, 2012. 7 am - 8.30 am
Meeting point: Gachibowli stadium , 6.30 am. Camp location is around 3 km from stadium
Fees : Its Free!

The camp will typically cover the following
  • Bike Safety - Helmets, gloves
  • Bike fit - saddle height
  • Mounting and dismounting the right way
  • Braking dynamics - front and rear brakes
  • Pedal position
  • Descending and ascending - body position, gearing and usage of brakes
  • Cornering
  • Overcoming Trail obstacles - logs, stairs, etc

Mango Orchard Ride

What : Mango Orchard Ride

When : 11th-12th Feb2012

Level : Easy

Distance : Around 30 km each day

Stay : Tents

Fees : Rs 1400/person ( includes food, accommodation, support)

* Bikes can be hired at an addtional cost. Limited nos only

* Ride starts and ends at The Bike Affair store, Kondapur


Day 1 : We will be starting the ride on Saturday 3.30 pm from TBA on 11the Feb. Destination would be a mango orchard by Himayatsagar lake, which will also be our camping ground. We should be at our destination around 5.30-6.00 pm. We will chill out the rest of the evening there. Simple vegetarian dinner will be arranged. Post dinner we can explore the surrounding area on foot.

Day 2 : We will get up early next day to enjoy and explore the surroundings. Ride starts at 7.00 am. Back to TBA Store by 10 am

Itinerary

Day 1, 24th Dec (saturday), 2011

Start time: 3.30 pm from the Campsite (at Vikarabad)

End time: 6.30 pm

Distance: 40 km

Terrain: Mix of tarmac and mud roads

Route: Through the hills and forests of Anathagiri. For almost 12 km we will ride along the backwaters of Kotepally Lake. The ride will end at Kotepally Lake. From Kotepally lake, transportation will be arranged back to the resort. Back to resort by 7.30 pm

*We will be based at Deccan Trails (http://www.deccantrails.com/) , a resort located right at the edge of the Anathgiri forest.

Start time: 6.30 am from the Campsite (at Vikarabad)

End time: 10.00 am

Distance: 30 km

Terrain: Mix of tarmac, mud road, trails

Route: Ride through the serene countryside around Vikarabad, through the Ananthagiri hills

What’s not included?

1. Your bikes. You can get your own bikes, or rent a bike from us. Rental bikes will cost Rs. 450 for the entire trip.

2. Any bicycle spares that needed during the trip.

3. Bikes need to be packed by the respective owners before transporting them to destination. The Bike Affair will only provide necessary packaging materials.

Session on Bike maintenance and Service camp


For all you bikers who had come down from secunderabad all the way to TBA to pick up your bike, this is our way to say 'we appreciate'. This one is free service camp ( first service /basic
tune ups) for all TBA customers who stay in and around Secunderabad. If you haven't bought the bike from us, you are still welcome ( we might charge you for the service though). While you get your bike serviced, we are going to do a quick demonstration on how to sparkle,lube and maintain your drivetrain.

Workshop - Basic Bike Maintenance


Been always wanted to clean and lube your bike, but not confident enough to give it a go? This Saturday morning, get your bike at its filthiest, and get your hands all dirty to make it sparkling clean. More so, the bike that comes with the dirtiest drive train wins a free finish line degreaser:)

What : Basic Bike Cleaning and Maintenance workshop

Why : Because nothing in the world feels better than riding a freshly cleaned and lubed bike.

When : 10th Sep 2011, morning 7.30 am

Location : TBA store, Kondapur. More details here -

Covers : A theoretical session on what needs maintenance on your bike , how it needs to be done, usage of degreaser and multiple kind of lubes. Followed by a hands on workshop on cleaning your bike and drive train, lubing the chain , derailleurs, gear and brake cables.

Entries : 20 riders. The cap on the no. of bikes for the workshop is 10 ( preference will go to first 10 registration)

Fees : Rs 100 per participant, which will be used to cover the cost of degreasers, lubes, and a quick breakfast and chai.

The only stuffs that you need to bring are:
a) A soiled tooth brush
b) Rags/waste cloth
